Casual Food Service Supervisor for Victoria Hospitals
Position: Food Service Supervisor (Casual)
Location: Royal Jubilee Hospital &
Victoria General Hospital
The
Supervisor is responsible for the production of approximately 1300 meals each
day and the supervision of 50 unionized Food Service workers. We are looking for a candidate who is
passionate about patient care, customer service and food quality. The successful person will demonstrate great
leadership abilities and have an amazing opportunity to be involved with the

Casual
Supervisors work a variety of scheduled days based on operational needs for
vacation or sick coverage and includes some weekends. Shifts are 12 hours 7am-7pm.
Duties:
·
You
will supervise a team of Food Service workers and be accountable for the day to
day food service operations that may include food production, assembly of
trays, delivery of prepared food and ware washing.
·
You
will be responsible for interacting with acute care staff and other caregivers
in the provision of safe and appropriate meals to be delivered to patients, and
ensuring productivity and food cost targets are met.
·
Your
responsibilities may include hiring, employee training and staff scheduling.
·
You
will address and resolve labour relation issues.
·
You
will conduct patient satisfaction surveys, customer service audits and patient tray
audits.
·
The
successful candidate will ensure the department has strict compliance of the
Compass Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Program, Occupational Health
and Safety Act and WHMIS regulations.
·
You
will ensure Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards are
followed in the food preparation and distribution process.
Required
Qualifications:
·
Minimum
of two years related experience in a hospital and/or fast paced restaurant
environment.
·
Experience
dealing with labour relations issues in a unionized environment
·
Strong
supervisory, leadership and coaching skills
·
Excellent
organizational and problem solving skills
·
Excellent
communication skills (oral and written)
·
Excellent
customer and client relationship skills
·
Proficiency
in Microsoft office is required
Assets:
·
Food
and Nutrition Management Diploma from an approved Community College and/or
university degree in Food Service and Nutrition
·
Member
of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management or be eligible for membership.
·
Knowledge
of CBord Food Service management system.
