  • Responsible for conducting accident/injury reports for support services and maintenance in compliance with WorkSafe BC regulations and for liaising with external agencies/stakeholders with regards to attendance management, WorkSafeBC and Graduated Return to Work programs.
  • Coordinate the daily activities of support services to ensure a high standard of product and service in compliance with legislative and regulatory acts governing food and nutrition services in schools including but not limited to Canada’s Food Guide, BC Ministry of Education Guidelines for Food and Beverage Sales in BC Schools, and School Meal and School Nutrition Program Handbook.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, evaluation and compliance of maintenance, food safety, and support service policies and procedures, standard operating procedures, safety data sheets and reporting systems to ensure compliance with applicable legislations and regulations and standards.

    WORK PERFORMED
    • Supervises designated staff by scheduling and coordinating work assignments, evaluating employee performance and determining related training and orientation requirements; performs staffing functions such as preparing of master personnel schedule and vacation schedule; maintains employee absenteeism records, prepares an updates work schedules, employee time sheets department communication book and accident reports; maintains related records and conducts monthly meetings.
    • Evaluates meals being served on the tray line to ensure established standards of quality and quantity are maintained; oversees the preparation, portioning and/or serving of meals; performs cooking and/or food service worker duties as required.
    • Ensures compliance in maintained with regards to policies and procedures of the department, Fraser Health and applicable union and legislative requirements.
    • Ensures, maintains and improves safety practices and procedures, sanitation and dress code are followed.
    • Ensures equipment is in working order and makes recommendations for improvements on equipment and facility.
    • Performs purchasing functions and inventory count of food and other supplies required in the department; orders and received supplies following established procedures.
    • Liaises with dietitians and nursing units and performs visitations to patients and residents with food allergies, house diets, cardiac, diabetic and hyperemesis diets or as assigned by a dietitian to ensure appropriate nutritional support to patients and residents is provided.
    • Performs menu processing functions and reviews menus to ensure diet requirements are met and are correct.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Graduation from a recognized two year program in Food Service Supervision plus one (1) year's recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
    • Current Food Safe Level II certification.
