WORK PERFORMED

  • Participate in a variety of committee meetings such as Occupational Health and Safety or Labour Management Meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduation from a CSNM accredited program in Food Service and Nutrition Management.
  • Baccalaureate degree in related disciplines or completion of a recognized program in management
  • 3 to 5 years’ supervisory experience including experience in budget preparation and control or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Computer experience with Excel, Word and Outlook.

WORK PERFORMED:

  • Reporting to the Program Manager, the Community Kitchen Coordinator, will develop, facilitate and implement a Community Kitchen Program that supports & encourages the women to actively attend and participate. 
  • The Community Kitchen Coordinator will ensure the kitchen has all necessary supplies, will maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen that meets all health & safety guidelines, provide meals independently for 30+ women when required, and will have strong budgeting and organizational skills to effectively maintain weekly menus and food supply orders while working within the constraints the women themselves experience (i.e. limited food budgets, lack of access to transportation, lack of proper equipment etc.). 
  • In addition, the role will include facilitating community garden projects, providing support & supervision to kitchen volunteers, coordinating and distributing Food Bank orders, and will continue to provide support to the women by taking referrals and completing intake, crisis prevention, intervention & conflict, teaching basic cooking skills, provide women with one-to-one support and advocacy, assists women moving in and moving out, cleans and prepares rooms for new residents when needed, keeps accurate records, files, log notes and statistical information as per practices/policy and maintains the safety and security of the building.

  • teaching basic cooking and kitchen skills; budgeting for supplies; 
  • keeping the kitchen clean/sanitary and promoting/encouraging cooperation among participants. 
  • You are expected to connect and cultivate relationships with like community organizations and programs. 
  • You are expected to maintain strong working relationships with and awareness of complementary programs and groups in the community and have specific knowledge regarding available community resources, private and government. 
  • You are expected to be aware of all resources available to community kitchen programs. 
  • You will facilitate community cooking but also connect women to food security programs including organizing outings to the food bank, Quest, etc.
