Support Services Manager in Langley BC


Reporting to the Site Leader, the Support Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the housekeeping, laundry, dietary, and maintenance departments. This includes recruiting, training, and supervision of employees; completing payroll entries for all employees in these departments; ensuring that tasks completed by all departments are up to standard and meeting all legislated regulations and/or Park Place policies; and participating in both site level and corporate level committees as assigned.
The starting wage for this position may be negotiated depending on level of experience of the applicant.
Typical duties and responsibilities:
  • Orders supplies and equipment for all departments, reports on effectiveness of products and equipment
  • Ensures applicable staffing levels; monitors interdisciplinary team collaboration and processes to ensure quality services are provided and addresses issues as required
  • Ensures staff members use proper Infection Prevention and Control procedures
  • Takes a leadership role in site committees and quality improvement/performance measurement initiatives
  • Plans and provides rotating menus for the residents which meet Canada's Food Guide standards
  • Monitors food and food service quality
  • Oversees the mainentance of building equipment
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a Nutritional Management Program at an approved school, which meets qualifications for membership of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to organize work
  • Ability to operate related equipment
  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of the interdisciplinary team
  • Prior experience in Long Term Care is an asset

PSNM Meeting - Feb 21 - Sysco Tour





The next PSNM meeting will be held on Thursday Feb. 21, 2019 at Sysco in Port Coquitlam from 1:30 to 4:00pm.

A tour of the Sysco warehouse is scheduled at 2:00 pm. This is an amazing tour for anyone who has not had the opportunity to yet. Dress warm, wear flat, closed toe shoes-(steele toed or attachments will be provided for your shoes)

The meeting will start after the tour.

Who You Are
Your role as the Food Service Supervisor & Diet Technician includes but is not limited to the following:
  • Provides work direction, supervision and on-going training to all assigned staff in a manner which establishes and maintains high staff morale
  • Assists in scheduling, payroll and performance management as assigned
  • Promotes and maintains excellent customer relations and effective on-going communication with all levels of staff
  • Places orders, maintains accurate and timely inventories and provides daily reports related to cost control

  • Visits patients to ensure food service quality and preferences are met any other dietary needs
  • Sets up nourishments and marks menus as per standard diet writing guidelines
  • Acts as a liaison between Clinical and Food Service areas
  • Conducts computerized nutritional analysis of menus, recipes and food records
  • Promotes and maintains excellent customer relations and effective on-going communication with all levels of staff and clients
  • Complies with all Sodexo safety and risk management policies and procedures striving for an accident-free workplace

    DUTIES
    Reporting to the Site Manager, the Hospitality Manager is an integral part of the care home leadership team who helps in achieving the overarching goals of the Director of Hospitality and the organizations strategic goals. All staff in the food service, housekeeping, and laundry report directly to the hospitality manager.
    Accountabilities
    • Leadership and direction for Hospitality Services staff including motivating hospitality staff to achieve departmental objectives, goals, and customer needs
    • Responsible for assigned projects as directed
    • Responsible for ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly audits and documentation are completed and maintained in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with provincial, health authority, and organizational guidelines
    • Develops, implements, and maintains all hospitality training, roll outs and projects
    • Prepares, completes, and authorizes all documentation related to LR/ER employee matters
    • Conducts annual Performance Review and Development plans of hospitality staff
    • Organizes and attends regular staff meetings with Hospitality Services staff
    • Prepares annual budget for Hospitality Services considering supply costs and Human Resources requirements
    • Monitors monthly variance report with any significant changes reported to the Site Manager
    • Other related duties as assigned



    QUALIFICATIONS
    Educational and other Qualifications 
    • Five (5) years in a senior food service and housekeeping service role requiring supervision of staff and operational management
    • Intermediate level user of MS Office including email and internet
    • Experience in health care housekeeping/laundry services including infection control
    • Post-Secondary education in hospitality management
    • Red Seal Chef BC EMPLOYEE: Current membership with Canadian Society of Nutrition Management required.
    • BC EMPLOYEE: Food Safe 1 (post July 29, 2013) and Food Safe 2 or equivalents
    • Current WHMIS certification 
REQUIREMENT
All new employees are required to submit:
- a current and clear Criminal Record Check Form and Clearance Letter prior to the hire date;
- a tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months prior to the hire date.
