WORK PERFORMED

The Restaurant Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall Food & Beverage operations of our community’s restaurant, bistro and bar, as well as in-suite dining. With the goal of creating an exceptional culinary experience to create unforgettable dining experiences, the Restaurant Manager establishes and implements high food service standards, creating a professional and welcoming atmosphere, maintaining cleanliness levels at above expected levels and overseeing special events. Reporting to the Resident Services Manager, the Restaurant Manager works collaboratively with the Executive Chef and other community leaders.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree, diploma or certificate in hospitality, business administration, business operations or related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory or management experience in a restaurant/hospitality setting
  • Minimum 5 years serving experience
  • Experience coordinating daily restaurant operations and creating plans to deliver superior food and beverage services, while maximizing customer experience
  • Experience leading a team of service professionals with responsibility for scheduling, recruitment, orientation, training, communications and performance management
  • Responsible for effectively managing the departmental budget and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement to maximize employee engagement and resident satisfaction

Make a significant impact on patient-focused health care as a Supervisor - Nutrition and Food Service (NFS). NFS is a provincial program that is committed to providing nutritious, healthy, high-quality meal service to patients, staff, visitors and the community. You will have the unique opportunity to lead the team, at the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre NFS department. The Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre is a 172-bed facility comprised of Acute Care Patients and Long Term Care Residents. The NFS Supervisor provides direction to front-line workers (Administrative Assistants, Food Services Workers and Cooks) and ensures Patients and Residents receive the meals required to promote good health. You will be integrated as part of a dynamic team that includes other NFS Supervisors, Managers and Dietitians. Key competencies required for this role include: Ability to foster, build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve organizational goals. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, customer-focused orientation and commitment to providing a quality service. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in staff. Demonstrated ability to implement change and handle competing priorities with minimal supervision. Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional verbal and written communications skills. The Supervisor position is an introduction to the operations management stream and could lead to other opportunities within Food Services Management.
Reporting to the Manager, Patient Food Services, the Supervisor has responsibility for maintaining operations at the site level, aligning AHS, NFS and site priorities with the delivery of patient food services. Responsibilities and accountabilities include but are not limited to: Provision of frontline staff direction and supervision of patient and retail foodservice operations. Completion of human resources activities (including but not limited to the recruitment process, performance appraisals, investigations, performance management, application of the collective agreement, etc.). Manages food, supply and labour expenses to achieve financial targets. Ensures safe work practices and conditions. Participates in the development and implementation of menus that are customized to meet local customer profiles, cost factors, labour productivity targets and standards set by NFS. Promotes quality improvement and staff engagement in operational problem-solving. Key contact to site administration and patient care for matters relating to Patient Food Services. Site compliance to guidelines, standards and regulatory directives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in Nutrition and/or Food Service Management. A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered. Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Applications. Minimum of 3 years experience in a Food Services management role, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a Food Services Supervisory role. Experience in a hospital or long-term setting. Completion of food-safe handling certificate. Experience supervising a unionized workforce. Experience leading projects and organizational initiatives. Experience with process improvement and change management mythologies (i.e.. Prosci, lean six sigma). Experience with the following computer programs: CBORD, e-People, Oracle and Sysco Source.
