VALLEYHAVEN   JOB DESCRIPTION


DEPARTMENT:                      ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

POSITION:                             MANAGER OF SUPPORT SERVICES

ACCOUNTABLE TO:            ADMINISTRATOR

Position Summary:

Reporting to and under the direction of the Administrator, the Manager of Support Services is responsible and accountable for the overall coordination of the Departments of Food, Housekeeping and Laundry, and Maintenance.

Job Summary:


  • Is a member of the Management “Leadership Team” and provides input to the strategic direction of Valleyhaven.
  • Provides leadership and direction to the Foodservices, Housekeeping, and Laundry employees. Responsible for identifying staff training needs, adjusting workload, developing work routines and time schedules.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of quality improvement processes compatible with industry standards and accreditation bodies. Ensures Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards are maintained.
  • Participates as a committee member of the Occupational Health and Safety Program, Fire and Safety Program and Infection Control Program.
  • In collaboration with the Dietitian, ensures the nutritional and therapeutic requirements of the resident’s are met through menu planning, development of standardized recipes, production sheets, and auditing, which meet the requirements of Canada’s Food Guide and Residential Care Regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as required by the Administrator within scope of the position.


Qualifications:

        • Completion of a degree in Nutrition/Food Service management plus related supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
        • A member of Canadian Society of Nutrition Management
        • A minimum of five years management experience in healthcare, WHMIS and Food Safe
        • Strong leadership skills and proven ability to supervise employees
        • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
        • Food Safe Certification
