Job Title:               Manager of Support Services (Certified Nutrition Manager required)

Facility:  In Burnaby

Description of Responsibilities:
This position assumes the role as a leader in planning, directing, developing, and managing the support services department. The responsibilities include meeting and adhering to professional standards, complying with organizational and corporate policies and procedures, supporting corporate and organizational missions, goals, and values; promoting teamwork among associates and fostering positive resident outcomes. Excellent interpersonal and written communications skills as well as the ability to work well with others and be sensitive to their problems, concerns and goals are required. Emergency ‘On Call’ will be an expectation.
Expectations and duties: 

Help the team to promote and maintain an atmosphere or harmony and a peaceful home like environment.

  • Culinary certificate from recognized Institution preferred
  • Knowledge of Hazard Analysis Control Points principles (HACCP).
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets
  • Food Service Nutrition Manager certificate
  • Commitment to continuous education.
  • Maintenance and upgrading of immunizations.
  • Commitment to provide the highest quality of service.
  • Commitment to team work.
  • Complete audits in accordance with licensing requirements.
  • Supervises work assignments and evaluating performance
  • Oversees the ordering all products related to Dietary, Laundry, and Housekeeping Chemicals & Paper Products
  • Participates in the orientation, training and continuing education of staff.
  • Conducts regular meetings with staff to inform educate or discuss changes, or updating of procedures and standards.
  • Maintains budget and monitors expenditures for assigned areas.
  • Supervises inventory for food requirements.  Monitors supplies and resolves discrepancies with suppliers. 
  • Evaluates resident meal services including tray service and dining rooms to ensure established standards of quality and quantity are maintained and oversees the preparation, portioning and/or serving of meals.  Plans and develops recipes according to nutritional and therapeutic diet needs of the facility and estimates food requirements. 
  • Responsible for quality assurance activities such as ensuring correct food safe temperatures are hot/cold and holding service.
  • Ensures safety practices and procedures are adhered to.
  • Oversees and updates standards and procedures for assigned area.
  • Requisitions maintenance and/or housekeeping or laundry repairs.
  • Consults with clinical dietitian for diet modifications and changes resident food preferences as required.
  • Processes diet orders as required by making appropriate menu substitutions for standard, texture modified and therapeutic diets.  Advises food service employees and dietitian as required.
  • Attends meetings as requested: discusses appropriate action with dietitian and relays outcomes to staff.
  • Ensures consistent staffing levels.
  • Assists in day to day operations as required
  •  Ensures a commitment to resident safety
  • Reviews, evaluates, and implements policies in coordination with the views and wishes of the contracted Facility
