Permanent Full Time Support Services Manager, Surrey

Job Summary
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Support Services Manager is responsible for all aspects of the food services, housekeeping and laundry departments for a senior’s care facility or long term care facility.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Supervisory duties include but not limited to recruiting, training and developing staff; scheduling, assigning and monitoring work; evaluating staff performance; ensuring a healthy and safe work environment; resolving conflicts and grievances; and taking appropriate disciplinary action in consultation with the Operations Manager and Human Resources.
  • Prepares and/or monitors the preparation of daily and special event menu plans to ensure individual dietary needs and standards for dietary care are met or exceeded and costs remain within approved budget allocations. Uses and applies Food Safe, HACCP principles, and production tools.
  • Provides leadership and direction to staff by interpreting and implementing policies and procedures; organizing and directing staff orientation and in-service training programs, scheduling and assigning work; monitoring and evaluating performance; and recruiting and taking appropriate disciplinary action.
  • Other duties include but not limited to: scheduling, inventory, month end report, weekly receivers’ reports, audits and reports, regular monthly staff meetings, site/corporate meetings including occupational health and safety, infection control, food committee.
  • Participate in menu planning and create daily and weekly menus for the facility as per WestCana policies and procedures.

Qualifications
  • Certified in Nutritional Management with eligibility to join the Canadian Society of Nutritional Management.
  • Minimum two years management experience in a large complex care facility or retirement community.
  • Must have working knowledge of Therapeutic diets.
  • Must be current knowledge of residential guidelines according to the health authority.
  • Ability to be “on-call”.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to travel if necessary.
