ROLE:
- Reporting to the Administrator, the Manager of Support Services is responsible for Food, Laundry and Housekeeping Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the Model, Mission, Vision and Values of the organization, interpreting to assigned staff.
- Participates and carries out specified Quality Improvement and Risk Management activities. Continually evaluates and seeks to improve services through research and “best practice” information.
- As directed, may act as a representative for Westminster House in liaison with external groups, specific to area of responsibility.
- Supports the Administrator to ensure practice is in compliance with legislative requirements / industry standards and codes, including any requirements for external reporting.
- Provides input to annual operating budgets and exercises expenditure controls for areas of responsibility.
- Compiles specified data for reports; summarizes and analyzes indicator data as part of reporting to the Administrator.
- Supports the placement of students for work experience and coordinates with support services and facility operations as indicated.
- Consults with clinical Dietitian to support the nutritional care of the residents.
- Is responsible for the direction of Food Service, Housekeeping and Laundry staff; developing schedules, work assignments and managing attendance within the parameters of the Collective Agreement (in consultation with the Administrator).
- Maintains an effective inventory, storage and supply system including purchasing, ordering, distribution and new product selection.
- Manages and ensures the overall preparedness of the organization to respond to emergency events.
- Monitors staff performance, conducts Performance Evaluations as per policy, provides support to staff in the attainment of their goals. Promotes staff health safety and work life balance.
- Under the direction of the Administrator, participates in the selection, discipline and termination of immediate subordinate staff. Provides input to the revision of job descriptions as indicated.
- Identifies needed educational content, and conducts or organizes orientation and in-service education for staff groups.
- Conducts meetings to support effective operation. Participates in committees and groups as designated.
- Provides leadership to the organization’s Occupational Health and Safety Program, including WHMIS Program and Musculo-skeletal Injury Prevention Program.
- Monitors safety in the living and working environment; reports and responds to hazards, near misses, and incidents, accidents unsafe or faulty equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
CREDENTIALS:
- CSNM Certificate from a recognized institution
- Three years related experience at a supervisory level in a healthcare facility.
- Optional: An equivalent combination of education, related training and experience.
