Restaurant Service Instructor / Supervisor
The Restaurant Service Instructor reports directly to the Director of Operations. The main responsibility of this position is to train Culinary and Baking & Pastry Arts students in all aspects of food and beverage service in a full service restaurant environment.
Following the Institute’s curriculum and objectives, the Restaurant Service Instructor organizes, directs, and coordinates the students and resources of the restaurant to achieve an outstanding customer service experience for our guests.
This is a salaried position that includes benefits and daily family meal. The schedule is principally 6-8 hours per day (30-minute unpaid meal break included) evenings and weekend shifts will be required.

This includes:
  • Training and motivating students
  • Working with Chef Instructors and other staff members to ensure smooth running of service operation
  • Supervising service of alcohol to maximize profitability whilst minimizing legal liability and conforming to regulations of the liquor board
  • Investigating and resolving complaints concerning food quality and service
  • Enforcing sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of dining areas
  • Complying with all health and safety regulations
  • Leading by example by following through the service standards of Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts from the moment first contact is made with the guest up to final departure
  • Ensuring students adhere to uniform standards as outlined in the Student Handbook
  • Processing guest checks and ensure accurate cash-out
  • Delivering training sessions as required
  • Meeting and greeting customers and organizing table reservations
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by management
  • Hourly wage to be determined on qualifications.
Requirements:
  • Open availability including evenings and weekends
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada
  • Minimum of 10 years’ front-of-the-house experience, at least 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • A passion for both mentoring and creating memorable guest experiences
  • Experience with Light Sped point of sale system an asset
  • Previous teaching experience an asset
  • Wine certification (WSET or equivalent) a plus
  • Robust beer and spirits knowledge also a benefit
