ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE
Under the direction of the General Manager, and with the support of the Regional Food & Beverage Manager, is responsible for maintaining the highest level of resident and guest dining experience and satisfaction. Performs administrative duties to maintain budget controls, food safety, and employee training and retention. Maintain all standards within the guidelines of provincial licensing and regulation.
BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 2 years of management experience in a similar senior or hospitality setting
- Red Seal certification (or equivalent)
- Food Safe Level 1 (Level 2 is an asset)
- Completed a minimum of grade 12
- Written and verbal fluency in English
- Proficient computer skills. Word, Excel, and familiar with online ordering systems
- Demonstrates excellent leadership skills. A service-oriented individual, whose visions and values align with those of Verve Senior Living.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in the Verve Quality Improvement (VQI) program.
- Follows Verve Senior Living corporate cycle menu
- Adjusts cycle menu to meet residents’ preference, within budgeted goals, while maintaining the standards set by Canada’s Food Guide for Seniors
- Utilizes seasonal local products whenever possible
- Purchases product through Verve approved suppliers
- Creates the standard for plating and garnishing meals in an attractive manner. Enhances selection through menu options and a variety of condiments
- Confirms that there is a “Chef’s Call” for dining attendants prior to each meal service
- Maintains beverage menu with a variety of alcohol choices
- Controls expenses by forecasting production quantity, portion control and waste management
- Initiates regular quality assurance audits to gauge resident dining satisfaction
- Maintain high level of food safety practises to meet Verve Senior Living standards
- Attends interdisciplinary committee meetings regarding nutritional issues and chairs the food advisory/ resident food committee meetings.
- Attends regional dining services meetings biannually
- Employee recruitment, selection, training, and retention
- Annual employee performance appraisals
- Address employee performance concerns as required
- Employee scheduling including vacation allowance and coverage
- Plays a role in the development, modification and/or communication of Verve Senior Living policies and procedures
- Complies with all relevant corporate policies and procedures
- Complies with BC WorkSafe and Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills
- Completes all required mandatory training/education.
- Provides input into the preparation of the capital and operational budgets
- Manages the department finance, including inventory. Helps to promote initiatives that generate revenue (i.e., staff and guest meals, buffets, etc). Provides input for variance reports on financial statements
- Attends regional dining services meetings biannually
Performs other related tasks as delegated by the General Manager.
