Work Performed:
- Manage and evaluate departmental goals, objectives, policies, and procedures to ensure the food services standards, food safety, sanitation, and housekeeping standards, environment safety, cleanliness are met.
- Manage assigned budgets by monitoring expenditures and taking actions as required.
- Order, receive food services and housekeeping supplies, and resolve discrepancies with suppliers.
- Interview, hire, orient, and coach staff in accordance with the facility’s orientation requirement.
- In consultation with Company Human Resources, evaluate, discipline, and/or terminate staff as required.
- Provide leadership to staff by directing work activities, including defining, setting, and communicating priorities, assigning workloads, and arranging department staff scheduling.
- Conduct monthly staff meetings to discuss policies, service delivery priorities, and residents’ concerns.
- Perform staff education in compliance with food services, infection control, health & safety, and WHMIS standards.
- In the absence of the Company Senior Management/Human Resources, responsible for after-hours on-call staffing replacement.
- In partnership with Clinical Dietitian, ensure the nutritional and therapeutic requirements of the residents are met through menu planning and standardized recipes in accordance with required standards.
- Manage and maintain quality monitoring programs including regular Food Services and Housekeeping audits.
- Participate in the Accreditation activities of the facility.
- Plan, lead, direct and supervise the preparation and service of high-quality food utilizing standardized operating policies and procedures.
- Plan and deliver seasonal menus that are compliant with all related regulations, fit the residents’ nutritional and therapeutic needs, and meets the facility and resident’s expectations.
- Implement menus and recipes according to the nutritional and therapeutic diet needs of the facility.
- Review and modify standardized recipes to ensure consistent high-quality production outcomes including quality, nutritional & texture requirements, quantity, portion sizes, and resident satisfaction.
- Plan and deliver catering events, special meals and programs as required.
- Oversee the cleaning procedures of the environment.
- Coordinate cleaning schedules of the facility and ensure processes follow infection prevention practices.
- Participate as a member of the management team by attending meetings and serving on Committees (i.e. Occupational Health & Safety) as required.
- Identifies and implements systems and processes that ensure the facility remains fully operational during emergency situations.
- Build effective working relationships with individuals within and outside the organization including residents, families, vendors, contractors, health authorities, licensing bodies and other external agencies.
- Performs other related duties as required
- Conduct all fire Drills and other emergency drills as per the facility Policy.
Qualifications:
- Member of Canadian Society of Nutrition Management and/or Registrant of College of Dietitians of BC mandatory
- Culinary certificate from recognized Institution preferred
- Previous working experience in long term care and assisted living facility
- Food Safe Certificate Level 1 & 2
- WHIMS certificate
- Must obtain a Criminal Record Check clearance performed by BC Ministry of Public Safety & Solicitor General
- Vaccinations as required by the Facility
