Food Service Manager - Burnaby

JOB SUMMARY

Position: Food Service Manager

Full/Part Time:  Full-time permanent
Salary: $60,000 to $65,000
 

WORK PERFORMED

  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills in a healthcare/hospitality environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with residents, family, and community through interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to multi-task, handle a variety of demands and manage workload priorities in a calm, professional manner.
  • Prepare and manage expenses by forecasting production quantity, portion control, waste management while also, preparing annual department budgets, Inventory management, and control
  • Responsible for managing all human resources-related activities for food services program staff including, hiring, orientation, scheduling, performance, workload, safety, retention, training, and discipline up to and including termination.
  • Develop and manage food preparation, food quality, and food safety programs in compliance with HACCP standards.
  • Develop and manage employee health and safety programs in compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations.
  • Develop and manage departmental audit programs to include resident satisfaction, inventory, food temperature records, etc.
  • Prepare and provide departmental education/training sessions for staff to support foodservice programs that include quality, safety, sanitation, and equipment programs.
  • Purchase products through approved suppliers.
  • Work closely with Dietician, Resident Council, and Food Services Team to develop and implement special, Seasonal, holidays menus.
  • Manage and adjust cycle menu to meet budget goals and resident needs/preferences.
  • Lead and mentor Chefs and staff in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and innovative trends in food service.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two (2) years of experience in the food and beverage, culinary or related professional area.
  • Previous experience in assisted living facilities and working knowledge of residential guidelines as per Health Authority requirements.
  • Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification
  • Current and valid Food Safe Level 1 certificate; Food Safe Level 2 certificate an asset.
  • Current membership with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM) or meets the requirement for membership and is willing to be registered.
  • Ability to work independently and as a strong team player.
  • Ability to provide a satisfactory criminal record check.
  • Fully vaccinated as per current Provincial Health Orders (PHO).
