WORK PERFORMED

  • Supervise an monitor service at all Retail locations, including Cafes, Bistros, bars, espresso bars, or other mobile retail, by monitoring the flow of service and supporting employees in providing outstanding service to all guests and delegate tasks as required.
  • Following relevant procedures when performing opening and closing duties at Cafés and Retail locations.
  • Liaise with Kitchen and Purchasing/Receiving to order and receive café inventory.
  • Assist Retail Operations Manager in training and motivating a professional team of Retail employees.
  • Ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of 2 cafés and Retail locations, servicing delegates attending conferences, as well as general public coming into the facility.
  • Overseeing a team of 10+ employees at the Cafés and Retail locations, ensuring employees are assigned meal breaks; they are on time and following attendance procedures, in proper uniform and following all other Company policies and procedures.
  • Be fully knowledgeable of menu items and preparing espresso-based drinks. Assist in educating the employees and serve as a resource to employees for any questions they may have.
  • Facilitating special guest requests and work diligently to resolve issues and address concerns so that no guest leaves unhappy.
  • Managing the cash floats, audit employee cash outs and ensure employees are following correct cash handling procedures.
  • Product inventory and ordering, maintenance of inventory records. Verify and maintain inventory at established par levels.
  • Ensuring employees maintain the cleanliness of the cafés and working within Food Safe preparation standards and procedures, as well as within Provincial Health Order and WorkSafe BC regulations.
  • Monitor and report departmental equipment requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-2 years supervisory experience in a fast-paced food service facility preferred. Previous café experience is strongly preferred.
  • College education in Business or Hospitality would be considered an asset or a combination of education and related experience.
  • Positive attitude with an ability to model our high standard of service excellence in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong coffee and tea knowledge and is a trained and experienced barista.
  • Working knowledge of liquor control, food safety, and work place safety practices – Food Safe Level 2 and Serving it Right Certificate (required).
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills are required, as well as advanced interpersonal skills to work within a team environment and to coach and motivate a group of employees.
  • Computer proficiency specifically in Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Takes initiative in identifying and resolving problems in a timely and effective manner.
