JOB SUMMARY
Position: Food Service Supervisor

Work Performed:
- Supervises designated staff by scheduling and coordinating work assignments.
- Monitors employee performance to ensure adherence to established Northern Health (NH) Regional Policies and Processes and safety standards.
- Evaluates employee performance and determining related training and orientation requirements. Provides input into performance evaluations of designated staff; informs the manager or designate of any performance issues or skill improvement needs.
- Provides input into recruitment decisions and hiring of staff by attending screening interviews with the Manager or delegate and/or the Human Resources Advisor.
- Participates in planning and developing of menus and recipes through Regional Food Service Operator Meetings according to nutritional needs of the facility population. Ensures implementation of Regional NH Core menus and recipes. Estimates food requirements and orders from NH approved vendors utilizing Regional standardized order guides.
- Receives supplies and resolves discrepancies with suppliers. Ensures monthly food inventories are completed..
- Monitors expenditures for assigned area(s); makes recommendations regarding budgets for assigned area(s).
- Makes recommendations regarding new equipment requirements
- Evaluates meals being served to ensure established standards of quality and quantity are maintained; oversees the preparation, portioning and/or serving of meals; performs cooking and/ or Food Service Worker duties as required.
- Ensures adherence to all safety practices and procedures; NH Regional Food Safety Plan; and NH Regional Food Services Policies and Processes for assigned area(s). In conjunction with the regional team, oversees and updates food service standards and processes.
- Performs audits and maintains records, reports and statistics to ensure that established food service and quality assurance standards are met.
- Acts as department representative on facility programs and committees as required.
- Oversees the storage of food and related items; establishes and ensures maintenance of food rotations in order to minimize spoilage and waste.
- Oversees retail operations, as assigned, to ensure established food service and quality assurance standards are met. Maintains records, reports and statistics for retail operations.
- Attends a variety of meetings such as regional and department meetings and in-services as required by the employer.
- Performs required investigations for employee related incidents and follows through with corrective actions.
- Records routine changes, problems and suggestions into communication book.
- Performs duties according to established safety Policies and Processes.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from a recognized two (2) year program in Food Service Supervision plus one (1) year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
