WORK PERFORMED
- Coordinate, process and finalize all details relating to Catering business.
- Manage and support catering operations and events that occur within Scotiabank Saddledome, McMahon Stadium, and external catering events.
- Provide leadership to approximately 30 Catering team members including training, motivating, and coaching.
- Assist clients in menu planning, coordinating food and beverage, meeting room setup, décor, audio/visual and other services as requested by the client.
- Ensure that all client requirements are effectively communicated internally and completed to meet client expectations.
- Coordinate communication between clients and staff to ensure smooth and successful handling of all events.
- Organize and manage the setup of events to ensure client requirements are executed as requested.
- Responsible for processing function deposits, correspondence with clients from initial contact to follow up, file management and other duties as deemed necessary by the Senior Manager, Catering.
- Support administration of payroll and gratuity calculations for all employees within the Catering operations team.
- Complete orientation for new hires and ensure communication is continuous on all policies and procedures.
- Assist with preparation of proposals, contracts, banquet event orders, function reports, floorplans.
- Reconcile daily banquet invoices to the DSS and kitchen for events.
- Provide final billing post event and assist in the resolution of credit card and billing discrepancies.
- Complete analysis post all catering events.
- Maintain and organize small wares and décor inventory.
- Point of Sale work to include maintenance of the system and general updating and order entry.
- Coordinate the ordering of all required supplies with warehouse, vendors and Manager, Catering Operations for equipment rentals and requirements.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years of progressive food & beverage supervisory experience;
- A post-secondary education focused on Hospitality Management or Business Management, or a combination of education and experience would be ideal;
- Must possess Proserve accreditation, be willing to obtain Food Safety accreditation, and WHMIS;
- Must possess valid Alberta Basic Food Safety Certification;
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and be comfortable driving a company vehicle/truck;
- Previous experience leading in a multi-faceted catering operation;
- Strong Leadership skills with ability to motivate a service minded team of 30+ members;
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written;
- Strong interpersonal skills, coupled with an entrepreneurial spirit;
- Keen attention to detail;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
