WORK PERFORMED
- Ensures that retail food services strategies, goals and objectives are in alignment with the Vision, Mission and Values of PHSA. Leads the teams toward achievements of those goals and objectives through effective communication, coordination of resources and consistent policy implementation.
- Maintains a strong working knowledge and understanding of customer requirements and expectations. Ensures representation of these requirements by re-engineering the delivery of efficient and effective retail food services within assigned agencies. Formulates recommendations on current and future service adjustments.
- Establishes evaluation and feedback mechanisms for internal and external stakeholders to support continuous quality improvement. Assesses and evaluates current trends, recommends and implements improvements to services offered across the three organizations.
- Establishes and maintains strong relationships with external stakeholders. Utilizes advanced communication skills to negotiate, facilitate consensus, and present proposals to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensures that appropriate quality and safety measures are in place and compatible with regulatory, industry and provincial standards, all the while ensuring achievement of cost efficiency, consistency, and standardization.
- Provides leadership and input for operational practice by seeking out and identifying best practice in service delivery by strengthening business processes with all stakeholders, and partnering with other health authorities.
- Responsible for annual operating budgets, establishes fiscal priorities and resource allocation for retail food services in assigned agencies. Implements control of approved budgets, including monitoring, identifying variances and taking corrective action.
- Recruits and manages assigned staff in accordance with professional standards and performance expectations. Provides leadership and direction to staff through coaching, mentoring, skill and leadership development, performance and talent management. Develops staff orientation and training programs. QUALIFICATIONS
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to Master's Degree in Human Nutrition, Food Science, Business Administration and/or related discipline, plus a
- Minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressively more responsible roles which include one or more within a support services area, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience with contract management is required.
- Recent, related experience in Food Quality Improvement and Food Policy at a management level or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be a key asset.
- Registered Dietitian or Certified Nutrition Manager (CNM) or eligible
- for certification with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM) is required.
