WORK PERFORMED:
- Reporting to the Program Manager, the Community Kitchen Coordinator, will develop, facilitate and implement a Community Kitchen Program that supports & encourages the women to actively attend and participate.
- The Community Kitchen Coordinator will plan, coordinate and deliver all aspects of program community kitchen program including but not limited to planning community meals;
- teaching basic cooking and kitchen skills; budgeting for supplies;
- keeping the kitchen clean/sanitary and promoting/encouraging cooperation among participants.
- You are expected to connect and cultivate relationships with like community organizations and programs.
- You are expected to maintain strong working relationships with and awareness of complementary programs and groups in the community and have specific knowledge regarding available community resources, private and government.
- You are expected to be aware of all resources available to community kitchen programs.
- You will facilitate community cooking but also connect women to food security programs including organizing outings to the food bank, Quest, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum one-year front-line support work experience doing community kitchens; preference given to candidates with lived expertise
- Passionate about all aspects of cooking
- Food Safe Certificate is required
- A valid First Aid Certificate is required
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate is an asset
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required, and access to a vehicle while on shift.
- Covid-19 (including booster) and annual flu vaccinations are required, unless with exemption
- All positions are subject to a Criminal Records Review (Submitted by Atira)
