Position Summary
Responsible for the day to day clinical diet office operations including preparation of tray tickets and menus for tray assembly and delivery. Ensures all patient information (location, diet orders, preferences, etc,.) is recorded or entered into Food Services information technology system. Ensures that patient meal selections are based on current diet order, preferences and food allergies. Ensures that standards are met and a positive patient/customer focus is maintained.
Responsibilities
- Records/enters patient information for meal processing.
- Prepares/prints menus and tray tickets for tray assembly and delivery on time
- Prepares/prints necessary reports to assist with food preparation (meal and nourishment tally reports and labels) as necessary.
- Tallys/enters patient menu selections.
- Answers phone calls, patient related information from nursing (late trays, diet order changes, etc.)
- Communicates problems, concerns and suggestions as needed regarding diet office operations and works in conjunction with the Food Service Supervisor.
- Interacts with Nursing staff, Clinical Dietitians and other caregivers in the provision of safe and appropriate meals to patients
- Maintains an awareness of department and hospital Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement activities, policies and procedures. Is familiar with WHMIS, Disaster, Fire, Search, Bomb-Threat and other emergency procedures.
- Practices good safety habits including wearing/using any required protective clothing or equipment. Reports promptly any accident or incident and co-operates fully in any investigation.
- Inspects and audits operations ensuring industry standards, HACCP standards and quality control procedures are maintained.
- Take patient calls for the dining on call at C&W for their meals.
- You will be accountable for verifying information of the patient diet order which is according to the prescribed patient care plan that includes proper food texture, patient food preferences and food allergies awareness.
- You will input the diet selection from the Patients calling down the call center into CBORD.
- You will ensure other reports are prepared and printed accurately and on time.
- Food and Nutrition Management Diploma from an approved Community College and/or university degree in Food Service and Nutrition.
- Member of Canadian Society of Nutrition Management.
- Proficiency in MS Office required; thorough understanding of food service IT systems.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutritional supplements.
- Proven ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing work routines or priorities.
- Excellent organizational and problem solving skills required.
- Exceptional English written and verbal communication skills required.
- Must have a positive attitude and a genuine desire to serve customers.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to work with, motivate, lead and develop frontline staff.
