Support Servces Manager - New Vista Society



Reporting to the CEO or designate, the Support Services Manager is a member of the facilities management team, accountable for all aspects of the day to day delivery of food in accordance with established regulations and corporate standards and expectations, and laundry services.

Job summary:
The Support Services Manager provides oversight, supervision, and constructive direction to assigned staff and acts as a professional role model while representing the food and nutrition department. Functions as the resource person for “Best Practice” in Food Services. Maintains high safety standards within service areas.

Responsibilities:
  • Supports the NVS Model of Service, Mission, Vision, Values and Eden Principles.
  • Provides input to and supports the defined Strategic Plan of the organization
  • Participates in the development of and ensures compliance with specific standard operating policies, procedures and other foundations required in the provision of Food and Nutrition and Laundry Services.
  • Participates in the management of assigned budgets.
  • Participates in the development of operational plans and goals for the department consistent with the organizations mission and strategic plans.
  • Participates in the Continuous Quality Improvement/Risk Management activities of the Human Resources, Environment, and Customer Services Teams to direct monitoring, evaluation and improvement initiatives.
  • Consults with the Dietitian to support the nutritional care of the residents.
Education and experience:
  • Graduate from a recognized Program in Nutrition and Food Services Management or graduation from Bachelor of Science in Nutrition.
  • Member in good standing or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management and/or Registered Dietician is mandatory
  • Food Safe level 1
  • A minimum of two years of recent Food Management experience
  • Experience managing unionized staff is an asset.
