The Royal Arch Masonic Home is a progressive and innovative 151 bed complex care facility in Vancouver. We also manage a 75-unit senior’s apartment complex in the adjacent property. As a key member of the management team, the Director of Food and Environmental Services will report directly to the Administrator and interact with managers in all departments of the facility. Responsibilities include managing the departmental budget, as well as the hiring, scheduling, supervision and evaluations for all employees within the department. The Director will conduct orientation and training sessions for employees as part of the facility’s education program. Participation in the CQI, Infection Control, OH&S and Executive Committee meetings is also required.

Food Services: Responsible for ensuring the production and delivery of safe, high quality nutritious meals and snacks for the residents, visitors and staff within the facility in accordance to regulations and internal policies and procedures. Collaboration with the full-time in-house Registered Dietitian on menu development, therapeutic menu options, food service and nutrition audit program and food budget.

Environmental Services – The Director is responsible for coordination of our housekeeping, janitorial, laundry and maintenance services and ensuring all operations are safe and meet or exceed best practices, licensing requirements and internal policies and procedures. The Director collaborates with the Director of Resident Care on Infection Control and outbreak issues, contributes to the reprocessing guidelines, and conducts quality control audits within the department. The Director is also responsible for coordinating the preventative maintenance program, move-in/out cleaning of the apartment suites, directing minor renovations and repairs in both buildings.

Skills and Qualifications
• Completion of a post-secondary accredited two-year program in Food Service and Nutrition Management.
• Certified member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM) in good standing.
• At least five years of related experience in a management/supervisory role with demonstrated leadership skills.
• Completion of FoodSafe Level I & II
• WHMIS trained
• Possess strong organization skills with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Experience working in a unionized environment.
• People-focused - Enjoys nurturing a diverse team of employees to deliver high standards.
• Strong command of the English language (written and spoken), and excellent communications skills.
• Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database applications and CB Diets.
