JOB SUMMARY

Position: Manager of Culinary Service
Company: Chalmers Lodge Assisted Living for Seniors
Job Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Full/Part Time: Full-time, Permanent
Hours of work: 7am – 3:30 pm (Flexible)
Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 a year

Work Performed:

  • Establish, maintain, constantly evaluate the development, delivery, and performance of the culinary service program at the Lodge.
  • Plan, prepare, cook and bake food for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Ensure all quality and legislative guidelines are met.
  • Manage the Cooks, Dishwashers, and Servers to ensure the nutritional needs of residents are met.
  • Foster and maintain a strong relationship with the staff, residents, and suppliers.
  • Ensure a high standard of sanitation in preparing and handling food.
  • Coordinate meal production to ensure timeliness in serving, quality, and quantity control.
  • Supply special diet meals as required.
  • Oversee all aspects of health and safety as it pertains to all Culinary Services.
  • Manage overall food and staff budgets for the Lodge.
  • Has the personality to be able to manage residents and staff effectively.
  • Plan and complete food orders to suppliers.
  • Develop staff to their potential.
  • Create and maintain a 5-week menu rotation.
  • Create a team environment in the kitchen and dining room.
  • Handle food deliveries and order forms.

Qualifications:

  • Must have solid chef background and be an accredited Red Seal Chef. 
  • Be able to interact with residents and create a good rapport.
