Nutrition Services Consultant Contractor - Burnaby

JOB SUMMARY

Position: Nutrition Services Consultant Contractor
Company: Nikkei Seniors Health Care and Housing Society
Job Location: Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada
Full/Part Time: Part-time, Temporary, Contract
Hours of work: 6-8 hours/month
Salary: From $50.00 per hour

Work Performed:

  • Approve the menu, assist in the development of recipes, and implement food production controls.
  • Complete nutritional assessments and nutritional care plans for all residents, as need.
  • Review cycle menus that meet the specifications of an update to date Canada Food Guidelines as well as the monitor menu procedures/changes of Food Service provider
  • Monitor resident satisfaction with Food and Nutrition Services and respond to needs that may arise.
  • Assist the Food Service Manager in ensuring compliance with all legislation pertaining to the management of the kitchen.
  • Assist with development and ongoing implementation and maintenance of efficient, effective systems in Food and Nutrition Services.
  • Complete required audits as per Health authority
  • Act as advisor to the Food Service Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Current professional registration with the College of Dietitians in BC, or equivalent Canada Society Nutritional Management (CSNM).
  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
  • Sound knowledge of geriatric nutrition care in the Assist Living care setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of government legislation in the areas of Assisted Living.
  • Thorough knowledge of food service methods, materials, and equipment used in quantity food preparation and serving.
  • Sound knowledge of Food Service sanitary and safety standards.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate to staff effectively.
  • General knowledge of government legislation in labor, health and safety, Canada food guide, employment, and human rights.
  • An ability to work within budgeted guidelines.
  • Practical oral and written communication skills.

Experience:

  • Registered Dietitian: 2-4 year (preferred)
