JOB SUMMARY
Position: Food Services Supervisor

Work Performed:
- Plans and provides rotating menus for the residents which meet Canada’s Food Guide standards.
- Develops standardized recipe files.
- Orders food and supplies and completes month end inventory.
- Monitors quality of food served to residents and residents’ acceptability of items served.
- Establishes special diets to meet residents’ nutritional needs to conform to physicians’ orders and dietitian recommendations. Educates kitchen staff.
- Responsible for the safe performance of all kitchen related duties
- Follows legislative standards and policies for food purchasing, delivery of meals, food preparation, safety and sanitation and nutritional services.
- Collaborates with Interdisciplinary team to ensure quality of dietary services.
- Ensure that food quality is of the highest standard.
- Recruitment and orientation, supervision, mentoring and performance management of all kitchen staff.
- Ensures applicable staffing levels and quality food services issues are addressed accordingly.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 diploma
- Formal food service training from an approved food service program and/or minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Food Service Industry.
- Supervision/leadership experience.
- Food Safe certificate.
- Communicates fluently in English both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of South Asian Cuisine.
- Demonstrates ability to work together with others toward shared goals and desired outcomes.
- Demonstrates ability to effectively establish professional working relationships with residents and their families as well as members of the care team aiming for excellence in residents’ care.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with residents and members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Excellent skills in MS Office suite, and electronic charting systems
- Knowledge of the Ismaili culture an asset
