Position Title:        Food Service Supervisor / Diet Technician

Flexibility in availability may be required as schedule is subject to change based on operational requirements. The operation is open 6:00am to 8:30pm, 7 days a week.

Description:
The Food Service Supervisor is responsible for co-coordinating food production, meal preparation and ensuring all staff maintains the standards for quality and service at all times. The Food Service Supervisor also ensures that safe work practices are followed and all sanitation standards are met.

As a Diet Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining patient diet information in Computrition and ensuring appropriate and accurate nutritional profiles. You will also have a role in supervising kitchen staff and managing food service activities.

General Duties:

Food Service Supervisor:
*       Provides work direction, supervision and on-going training to all assigned staff in a manner which establishes and maintains high staff morale
*       Assists in scheduling, payroll and performance management as assigned
*       Promotes and maintains excellent customer relations and effective on-going communication with all levels of staff
*       Places orders, maintains accurate and timely inventories and provides daily reports related to cost control.
*       Assist with planning and executing special assignments and any required follow-up
*       Conducts weekly sanitation inspections and establishes corrective action.
*       Conducts and participates in staff meetings
*       Ensures that employees work in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures
*       Ensures that equipment and safe and healthy work conditions are maintained in their assigned area
*       Supports the Safety Program and reports all injuries and hazardous conditions immediately
*       Other tasks, duties and assignments as directed by the Manager
Diet Technician:
*       Oversees all patient nutrition information in Computrition
*       Verifies patient diet order information according to prescribed patient care plan that includes proper food texture, patient food preferences and food allergies
*       Writes therapeutic diets, sets up nourishments and marks menus as per guidelines
*       Coordinates with food service production on patient needs and service requirements
*       Acts as a liason between Clinical and Food Service areas
*       Promotes and maintains excellent customer relations and effective on-going communication with all levels of staff and clients
*       Supervises kitchen staff and food service activities
*       Supports the Safety Program and reports all injuries and hazardous conditions immediately
*       Performs clerical duties and assists with planning and executing special assignments
*       Other tasks, duties and assignments as assigned by Manager

 Selection Criteria:
-Diploma in Food and Nutrition Management or Degree in Dietetics (post-secondary students in relevant programs eligible) -Eligibility for membership in CSNM.
   ONLY CANDIDATES WHO ARE ELIGIBLE CAN BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.
-Clinical nutrition knowledge an asset
-English proficiency, verbal and written -HACCP, WHMIS training -Current vaccinations -Food Safe Certification -Security Clearance

Position:  Manager of Support Services (2 separate positions)

Duties:

  • Human Resource and Labour Relations management including complete administrative and personnel files, collective agreement, hiring, training and discipline
  • Managing the day to day operation to ensure all contractual service levels are met.
  • Complete all financial reporting including payroll, period summaries and sales reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain appropriate budgetary and cost controls including inventory controls
  • Customer service focus including: develop and maintain a strong knowledge of resident preferences and incorporate these preferences into service delivery; working with the Recreation department, to develop and assist in the implementation of special events; facilitating ongoing communication with all stakeholders in the site including administration, nursing, residents and their families.
  • Conduct regular training in-services and staff meetings as required and with the Support Services Team.
  • Implement, manage and maintain the Quality Assurance program as outlined by the company and the client, including weekly and monthly audits.
  • Proven experience and ability to assist in menu management, food cost controls and production including monitoring and evaluating meals and service to ensure established standards are maintained for both quality and quantity of all meals and snacks is required.
  • Implementation and control of a Food Safety Plan as well as HACCP, WHIMIS, and all Workplace regulations for a safe work place.


Required Qualifications
  • Eligible to obtain membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM)
  • Minimum two years previous Management experience or equivalent supervisory role in a long term healthcare setting
  • Excellent verbal and written English language communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office Applications, Word, Excel and Power Point

OBJECTIVE:
The Diet Technician/Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Clinical staff in the provision of Nutritional Care to inpatients and outpatients using Computrition. In carrying out assigned responsibilities, the incumbent must ensure that all staff under his/her supervision complies with client, corporate and division policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

·         Requires knowledge of clinical diets and ability to plan and mark clinical diet menus
·         Current vaccinations.
