WORK PERFORMED

The Retail Food Service Supervisor is responsible and accountable for the provision of retail food services at the site/unit level and reports directly to the manager. This position is responsible and accountability for: Providing frontline staff direction; Monitoring the organization of the day to day food services activities; Ensuring safe work practice and conditions; Making site/unit level food service decisions; Financial decisions required to financial sustainability of the Retail Food Service operation; Being fiscally responsibility in managing the finance and budget of the department; Creates menus based on customer sustainability, cost factors, labour guidelines/collective agreements and follows standards set by AHS; Adding quality improvement to safe work place practices in a complex, regulated food service environment direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of the goals of Nutrition & Food Services (NFS) within AHS. This position will provide supervisor support as required at Foothills Medical Centre (FMC), Peter Lougheed Center, Alberta Children's Hospital, Rockyview General Hospital and Richmond Road Diagnostic Treatment Center. The supervisor position is an introduction to the operations management stream and could lead to other opportunities with in Nutrition and Food Services Management.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years in a Food Services management role, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in Nutrition and Food Service Management desired. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered. Effective communication and organizational skills. Be customer focused and committed to providing quality services. Demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within a fast-paced, time sensitive work environment. A strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to implement change and handle competing priorities without close supervision. Proficiency with computer applications such as e-mail, word, excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in high volume, multi-unit Branded Food and Beverage operations. Have previous business and operational experience in analyzing and managing financial results to maximize profits, achieve goals and increase customer experience. Experience working with unionized employees. Healthcare experience is an asset. Familiarity with CBORD software is an asset.
