WORK PERFORMED
- The Manager of Patient Food Services (PFS) is a key leadership role and reports to the Director of Patient Food Services, Calgary Zone.
- This position will oversee the development of a room service model of meal delivery at the new Calgary Cancer Centre.
- The PFS Manager will create a service that is client-focused and responsive, seeking opportunities for improvement.
- Developing and supporting a team that continuously improves knowledge and skills and participates in process improvement.
- The PFS Manager leads, coordinates, and facilitates department operations, planning to ensure patient and employee needs are met.
- Responsibilities and accountabilities include: leading the prioritization and execution of activities for the department in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services; manages and controls the allocation of resources (financial, human, material, and physical); and collaborates with stakeholders to ensure quality food service delivery and client satisfaction.
- Focus on results by actively participating in the review of Nutrition and Food Services benchmark measures to achieve target outcomes.

- Effective communication with individuals, groups and stakeholders that encourages an open exchange of information and ideas.
- Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to influence, inspire and build confidence in others.
- Good understanding of local, provincial and national healthcare food service standards.
- A solid understanding of menu planning for healthcare.
- A minimum of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Nutrition and Food or Food Service Management or Certified Nutrition Manager, or recognized equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years recent food service management experience and health care management experience.
- Project management, process improvement and change leadership experience.
- Exceptional customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills including decision making, coaching, teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others.
- Effective communicator with strong organizational skills.
- Proven ability to foster partnership and to achieve organizational goals within a large, diverse organization and manage within a unionized sector.
- A clear pattern of professional and personal development.
