WORK PERFORMED
  • Develops, implements and evaluates departmental goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates the operations and administration of the Food Service, Housekeeping and Laundry departments, developing organizational systems to reflect the departments’ role.
  • Develops documentation and reporting systems to maintain records and communication for the department.
  • Supervises designated staff by performing duties such as interviewing and hiring, scheduling and coordinating work assignments, evaluating employee performance, disciplines employees and determining related training and orientation requirements.
  • Plans menus in consultation with the Dietitian and develops recipes according to nutritional and therapeutic diet needs of the facility; estimates food requirements.
  • Responsible for purchasing of supplies; receiving supplies, resolving discrepancies with suppliers; stock control and monitoring of supplies.
  • Prepares the departmental budget; develops and monitors cost control systems.
  • Ensures compliance to food safety, sanitation, and overall workplace safety standards. Responds to and reports all hazards and incidents; investigates and makes recommendations as indicated.
  • Assist in coordinating monthly fire drills and emergency drills de-briefing.
  • Develops and implements preventative maintenance program for equipment in Support Services department according to facility policies and procedures.
  • Participate in a variety of committee meetings such as Occupational Health and Safety or Labour Management Meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduation from a CSNM accredited program in Food Service and Nutrition Management.
  • Baccalaureate degree in related disciplines or completion of a recognized program in management
  • 3 to 5 years’ supervisory experience including experience in budget preparation and control or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Computer experience with Excel, Word and Outlook.

QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to Masters Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or related Health Sciences Administration from a recognized university plus completion of a Dietitian’s of Canada accredited Dietetic Internship and seven years’ recent related experience in a complex health care or institution environment including a minimum of five years’ in a managerial or leadership capacity. Registrant of the College of Dietitians of British Columbia and member of the Dietitians of Canada.
  • Ability to formulate and implement overall strategic plans consistent with organizational direction. Ability to facilitate and implement initiatives. Ability to foster team thinking and a work environment that motivates and creates value for the department and organization. Ability to liaise effectively with staff at all levels of the organization and with partners in other health centres, community agencies and academic institutions.
